His Perspective

This morning I watched a Bluejay. It perched itself on a branch just above the ground with its head cocking from side to side. Then suddenly it jumped to the ground and caught a worm in its mouth. After it had finished it's meal it flew up to another branch high above the ground.

The verse about God caring about the sparrows came to mind watching this little bird find food. "Does God care about you little bird?" I questioned.

I knew the answer as I watched it's needs being fulfilled. God cared about that bird. His word says he cares much more about me.

Then why do I constantly question the good intentions of my God?
Why is my heart filled with anxiety over what he is doing?
Why do my feelings tell me I am better off trusting myself?

I figured it out in this moment watching the bird land and take off again. Too many times I jump down and do what the Lord wants me to do, but I forget to rise again and get his perspective. The bird would have been walking around for hours trying to see the food that was all around it. But because it constantly flew back up it was fed quickly.

I tend to sit on the ground and complain that there isn't any more food! Why did God have me come here if I wasn't going to receive everything I needed? Maybe I just need to get a different perspective. His perspective.

The temptation is to say that God doesn't care because I can't see his provision from where I am at. But if I can shift my focus heavenward where my help comes from, I'll see everything that I need to.

Oh Jesus.
Help me to get a higher perspective. Help me get your perspective. Help me see your provision from the high places. You are so good and faithful. Thank you.
