Pass through the Waters

I'm reading Isaiah 43 this morning. I want to talk about the first three verses.

Here they are for you to read! (With verses 1-7 for context)

1But now thus saith the Lord that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
2When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
3For I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
4Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.
5Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
6I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
7Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
Isaiah 43:1‭-‬7 KJV

Now let's go through them! Yay Jesus!

Verse 1 - I think about the Lord calling us by name. Even before you knew him, he was calling your name. He was calling your name! We don't have to be afraid of anything this life can throw at us because the LORD has redeemed us! He has put his life between me and the judgement of God! Not only that he chooses us. Calls us by name and says, "You are mine."

Verse 2 - The first thing that sticks out is of course the phrase "When you pass through". Notice that it says when. Not if. I don't think I noticed this until this morning. We will pass through the waters. We will come to times where we have to walk through fire. Not maybe or if, but when.

What does the Lord promise?
I will be with you.
COOL!
The river will not overflow you.
Really?
You will not be burned and your clothes won't catch on fire.
What a promise!

That even when we walk through the trials and hardships of this life, they can't really touch us. Not really.

Not when He has promised that HE will be with us. Not when HE said the waters will not overflow us. Not when HE promised that even our clothes won't burn.

Verse 3 - For I AM the LORD...

Enough said.
