Verse of the week: Motives

Proverbs 21:2 (MSG)

We justify our actions by appearances;

God examines our motives.

Proverbs 21:2

First thought: YIKES! 

Second thought: That is so true!! 

Why do I first think yikes? Because so many times I am doing something that is good or something that I think will really please the Lord but my underlying motives are wrong. I am simply doing things to get attention or to look good in the eyes or people. The fact that it is yikes is because God can see past all my falseness and can be a right and good judge of everything that I do. He can see past my appearances and see the motives - see my heart and see every little thing inside of me.
